A Voice for Every Christian Woman
Beautiful morning here, in the midst of hot weather in recent days. Starting the day online as usual, with the commitment to myself that I will shut down by 8am and continue my assault on the weeds in the yard. They had a field day while we were away for a few weeks. Hubby is singing and playing his guitar in the background which is the norm for us.
Our main interest is entertaining at nursing homes and for senior groups, an outlet for Barry's passion for singing, and a focus for our retirement years. We meet some wonderful people and have made great friends.
I started this post with the idea of saying how exciting life is when we see God even in the little everyday things. Do you keep a journal? I regret not doing so, as it would be wonderful to look back on. I think I won't forget, but sad to say, I do.
Here's a pic of us at one of the nursing homes with our Christmas concert.
Blessings, Jan

Comment by Sr Crystal Mary Lindsey on January 19, 2013 at 5:08am How beautiful and Christmas'y you both look.. Shining our Gods love in action, I bet the residents love to sit and listen to your music. Its a wonderful ministry Jan... I don't keep a journal. My mother did, she wrote about everything. I was able to read her entry about my birth and who came to visit the both of us as well as their comments.. It made me feel warm and loved, especially as I read it when mum was ninety four and I sixty seven... Beautiful.

Comment by Gloria Doty on January 16, 2013 at 10:36pm Love the picture. It looks as though you were having a wonderful time. I am sure the residents were, also. It is too cold right now for weeds in IN although if they get a smidge of warmer weather, they will be up. very little snow this winter so far, but it is only January. I am glad to see you here.
I have kept a journal at different times in my life, but never for very long. I write exactly how I feel at the moment, and then think I really wouldn't want anyone to read my words so I get rid of them.
Comment by Anne B on January 16, 2013 at 9:09pm We have been having some nice days as well but we here in Ontario, Canada still have winter though snow has been minimal for us. No weed picking here, save those things for Spring and Summer.
I think it's great that you and your husband entertain in the nursing homes, brightens many hearts there I'm sure.
I began keeping a journal back in 1984 but I lost those pages I started. I do have several journal books but I don't always write in them on a daily basis. I try to record my struggles, God's answer to prayers, days when the He has given me a scripture which encouraged my heart as well as my dreams because for years there were things He was showing me and speaking to me for my life, I had to record them. It's amazing to see how God has fulfilled His Word. I still don't write in my journal everyday, mostly when significant things happen etc...
I will often look back on these writings to see all that God has done and brought me through. Someday my children too will see them and how God worked in my life.
Thank you for sharing the gift you are blessing others with.
Blessings
Anne B
